Thoughts are like water
liquid
flowing
escaping
like the river flowing out to sea
forgetting them
they disappear into unknown
thoughts are like beach sand
gritty
sticking
scratching
getting into your clothes
particles appearing days later
niggling at the brain
reminding or annoying
liquid or sandy
thoughts have a mind of their own
impossible to hold onto
impossible to let go
they come back to haunt
creeping and sneaking up behind you
jumping out of nowhere
they escape away
like dust on the wind
never to return
but there is a lingering reminder
knowing that the thought was once there
I woke with just two lines out of this poem, and I’ve been puttering away at it all day. I had no clue it would turn out so pretty. Enjoy
